Domingo Ureña, Chairman of Airbus Military, has been appointed Chairman of the AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD).

He takes the place of Pier Francesco Guarguaglini, Chairman and CEO of the Italian multinational Finmeccanica. The ceremony was held during the Annual Convention of the Association in the Swiss city of Montreux last 8 October. ASD represents European aeronautical, space, defence and security companies in relation to all matters of common interest, with the aim of promoting and supporting competitive development of these sectors in collaboration with European institutions and member associations.

The ASD has 28 member associations in 20 countries across Europe and represents over 2,000 companies, the majority of which are SMEs. The industry sectors it represents employ approximately 700,000 people with a turnover of 155 billion euros.
