AERTEC Solutions, engineering and consultancy Andalusian company specialised in the airport and aerospace industry, has been awarded a new consultancy project to supervise and ensure that the Alfonso Bonilla Aragón international airport in Cali, Colombia, complies with safety regulations.

The company is in charge of supervising, analysing and determining the degree of compliance with international safety standards of the regulation established by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for the airfield of this Colombian airport, one of the most important airports in the country. The work developed by AERTEC Solutions is focused on analysing safety characteristics and parameters of the airfield throughout its different areas (taxiway, runway, airfield lighting systems, channelling and drainage, etc.), as well as defining improvement measures and necessary adjustments to ensure compliance with this regulation.

AERTEC Solutions participates in this initiative as an independent consultancy company, after being awarded by AEROCALI, private entity in charge of managing Cali's international airport, the open tendering process in which it competed against other international companies of the sector.

The initiative is framed under a renewal and adaptation process of the Colombian airport facilities to adapt them to ICAO's safety and quality standards.

The design carried out by AERTEC Solutions "is really complex due to the array of activities it comprises, and especially since the work needs to be developed while the airport is in operation. In addition, after the works have been completed, the airport would implement a new Operational Safety Management System that would permit a substantial improvement in the management of operations and its operating safety to manage its growing traffic efficiently", explains Carlos Berenguer, Aviation Director of the airport consultancy company.

Specialization and international growth

AERTEC Solutions consolidates its role as expert company in consultancy and audit services in the airport sector, especially in the area of airfields, where projects are being developed in different airports on the world stage. In addition, it strengthens its presence in the Latin-American market, especially in Colombia, where it has already undertaken other projects, such as the audit carried out for the tender processes to expand and operate Barranquilla, Armenia, Neiva, Popoyán and Cartago airports.

Furthermore, this contract strengthens the international position of its business portfolio, which now accounts for 70% of its revenues in the airport area, and also builds up its activity in this market at a global level, where it has become a model company in engineering and consultancy services. AERTEC Solutions' goal is not only to continue to increase its international presence in Colombia, but also in other areas of strategic interest in Latin-America where, apart from Colombia, it has also developed projects in Panama, Peru and Brazil.

The company has multidiscipline staff capable of providing expert engineering and consultancy services that cover the entire life cycle of an airport, covering the conception, planning, design and development of the facilities to the operation and management of its services and technologies.

AERTEC Solutions is a multinational engineering and consultancy company specialised in the airport, air transport and aerospace industry that has undertaken projects at more than 70 airports across 21 countries in five continents, and with presence in the world's largest aerospace programmes, such as A350XWB, A400M, A320 or A330MRTT, among others.
