The Governing Council of the Andalusian Regional Government has authorised an investment of 5.04 million euros to erect a building in the Andalusian Aerospace Technology Park, Aeropolis, for suppliers of aircraft assembly programmes located at the San Pablo FAl. These new installations will facilitate the presence in Aeropolis of aeronautical companies without headquarters in Seville during the period prior to the final delivery of supplies, especially those relating to the A-400M military airlifter which is assembled in the nearby EADS-CASA factory at San Pablo.
This construction with a total built surface area of 8,982 square metres distributed on three floors and a basement level is equipped with the facilities necessary to meet engineering and basic service needs and support for management, storage, workshops and laboratories for applied research, tests and checks prior to delivery. The construction of the complex, which will be named "Aeronautic Suppliers Village", will begin in summer of 2010 and will take a year to complete.
The project has been granted an interest-free loan of 4 million euros by meens of the Instrumental line for Infraestructure Actions within the National Plan of R&D&I 2008-2009) of the Science and Innovation Ministry. The Andalusian Aerospace Technology Park, Aeropolis, is an initiative by the Regional Government to promote the aerospace sector in the region, bringing together auxiliary industries in a single location equipped with the capacity to provide advanced services. An investment of more than 60 million euros has been made in this project by the Regional Ministry of Innovation, Science and Enterprise to date. It currently has commitments to occupy 90% of the surface area, with 38 firms purchasing sites or facilities in the Park.
Of these, 28 are already established and provide employment for more than 1,200 employees, with an annual turnover in excess of 100 million euros. Strategically located next to the San Pablo Airport and the Airbus Military plant for the assembly of the A-400M aircraft, Aeropolis has as its main objective the provision of financial and technological support to Andalusian SMCs in the aeronautical sector to enhance their competitiveness and enable them to take on the major projects being carried out in the region, especially in relation to the A400M and the design and manufacture of components using the latest technology for the Airbus A380 and the A350XWB.
